First-class pupil, Hitler Youth, SS soldier. Hans' career was more or less predetermined. After studying to become an architect, his superior entrusted him with the task of building new and more efficient "sanitary facilities" at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in occupied Poland. Once there, the young man literally looks the horror in the face. Hans begins to realise more and more what inhuman practices he is part of.
