Product details
The story of the world-famous freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi, who was born on October 2, 1869, as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in Porbandar, India. Initially, he worked as a lawyer in Bombay but then moved to South Africa. There, Gandhi worked as a lawyer for 21 years and gained his first experiences living in communal settings, the Ashrams. He founded the Tolstoy Farm near Johannesburg and later the Phoenix Ashram near Durban. In South Africa, Gandhi was imprisoned for the first time due to his nonviolent resistance against racial policies, specifically in the notorious Old Fort in Johannesburg, where Nelson Mandela was also later incarcerated. After returning to India, Gandhi established a large Ashram in the textile hub of Ahmedabad. From there, he launched his legendary Salt March to protest against the British tax.
