Product details

May, 1940: Allied troops are trapped by the German army in the northern French city of Dunkirk. A group of English soldiers is separated from the larger group and has to fight its way through under the leadership of the inexperienced Corporal "Tubby" Binns (John Mills). Meanwhile, journalist Charles Foreman (Bernard Lee), frustrated by the ignorance of British reporting, sets off to report directly from the front on the major evacuation mission in Dunkirk. The film recounts one of the most significant moments in British warfare from the point of view of a soldier and a journalist, and thus describes the enormous effort that was made to free the soldiers from a seemingly hopeless situation.
