Seven sunny pieces against the winter blues
by Anika Schulz
The best idea from Calvin Klein since Mark Wahlberg and Kate Moss: Jeremy Allen White. I'm taking the campaign as an opportunity to once again appreciate my three CK favourites.
Flashing underwear can be quite embarrassing. Unless the right brand is on the cheeky waistband. You're already casual and stylish, rubbing shoulders with names like Kate Moss, Marky Brand, Christy Turlington, Freddie Ljungberg and Kendall Jenner.
No doubt about it, the brand I'm talking about here is Calvin Klein. Founded in 1968 by the same man and his business partner Barry K. Schwartz, Calvin Klein has always provided us with well-fitting jeans, timeless perfumes and iconic underwear. Not to mention the associated cult campaigns.
Now the Klein company - which the designer sold to the Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation for around 700 million US dollars in 2002 - could rest on its laurels. But this is not the case. Instead, the company scores points every year with a new campaign that, as they say, goes viral. Appearance: Jeremy Allen White.
The actor played Phillip "Lip" Gallagher in the TV series "Shameless" from 2011 to 2021 and has been showered with awards for his leading role in the series "The Bear" since 2022 (and rightly so, if you ask me). But White is not only known for his outstanding acting performance, but also for his very good hand when it comes to timeless, high-quality basics. For example, the plain, white T-shirts from the Merz b. Schwanen brand or sneaker classics such as the Nike Cortez or the Nike Air Force 1 (both also exclusively in all-white).
So it makes sense that Calvin Klein (like pretty much the rest of the world) is keen on Jeremy Allen White: Perhaps the coolest actor of the moment with a heart for textile classics plus perhaps the coolest underwear brand ever with endless expertise in textile classics = a match made in heaven. Almost five million YouTube clicks and social media accounts flooded for weeks confirm this.
Now, of course, watching the clip (repeatedly) makes you happy and Lesley Gore's song "You Don't Own Me" has probably been a permanent fixture in various playlists ever since. But it also makes you want to join the ranks of these casual, stylish people. With these three pieces from our range, you can do so with ease.
Anything that has to do with the combination of Kate Moss and the 1990s is always a favourite of mine. The legendary black and white campaigns for CK One are no exception. For me, the unisex eau de toilette smells of nostalgia, others might say bergamot, lemon, cardamom, jasmine and lily of the valley. Let's agree on citrus-fresh. You have to like it. I like it. Even today. [[product:6522505]]
No underwiring, a comfortable blend of 53 per cent cotton, 35 per cent modal and 12 per cent elastane and a comfortable wide waistband with, of course, the iconic branding on it. The plain grey bralette from Calvin Klein Underwear is an absolute wardrobe essential for me and - just like the matching bottoms - can also be shown off at the right moment. [[product:20791501]]
A must-see. Because of Jeremy Allen White, because of Marky Brand, because of Freddie Ljungberg. And because they have set such a beautiful example, I also favour the men's models without exception - they simply have the better waistband. And let's be honest: that's what really matters with these pants. [[product:32985517]]
