Galaxus Finds: things I don’t want to do without – part 4

TikTok is full of Muji or Amazon Finds at the moment. With Galaxus Finds, my fellow editor Pia Seidel launched a similar format. In the fourth part of this series, I get to present my five favourite finds from our range.

Cherishing memories

I create a photo album for every year that passes. And I don’t mean the digital kind, but the kind that involves glueing each photo in by hand. The advantage? You can add flight tickets, receipts and other memorabilia. Unfortunately, many photo albums outdo each other in terms of ugliness. If I’m going to give something that large space on my shelf, it should have the decency to look nice. I searched for ages and finally found what I was looking for in the single-coloured, fabric-cover albums by Goldbuch.

Tasteful souvenir

I always pack my own lunch for work. To keep my salads crisp instead of drenched in dressing, I carry my oil and vinegar mixes separately. Preferably in my leakproof sauce container from Lékué. The round container is made of wood fibres and plastic, is dishwasher and microwave proof and has two openings. A narrow one you can close with a silicone stopper and a wide one with a screw cap half the height of the container. The latter makes filling and cleaning the container really easy. It can also be used to transport yoghurt toppings such as chopped nuts and seeds.

Prettier than any pinboard

Originally, I wanted to use the gold paper clips from I Am Creative to close small gift bags. But I rarely use them for that. Instead, I put them to work as an alternative to the clunky pinboard hanging in my office. All I did was hammer a small nail into the wall and hang the clip on it. These low-key clips now hold birthday cards, photos and notes I can replace any time.

I can see clearly now

What’s missing in my bedroom is a bedside lamp. Fortunately, the Clip Book Light from Kikkerland more than makes up for this. The bendable reading lamp has two brightness levels and can be clamped to your book or a slim board. Now I can read in the dark without bothering my boyfriend in his sleep. You can detach the lamp from its clip holder. I simply plug it into my PC for wireless USB charging. What’s really cool is that the lamp also doubles up as a torch that helps me navigate items lying around when I need the toilet at night. My little toes are grateful!

Garlic crusher with a bite

There are two things I’m particularly passionate about: vampire stories and garlic. In separate contexts, of course. Exceptionally, Gracula by Ototo has united them. This compact, chunky plastic vampire is a garlic crusher that puts some extra fun into cooking. I’ve named him Edward.

Ed’s dishwasher-safe and consists of two elements: a body and head. And between these two is where you place roughly diced garlic. Next, you turn the two body parts back and forth in opposite directions. This crushes the garlic so you can put it straight in your tasty Bolognese sauce. If garlic bits get stuck between the grinding teeth, just hold them over the pot and pour a little water over them. That way you’ll make sure that every last bit ends up in your food. Edward crushes the garlic coarsely, so it’s more suitable for sauces and stews, not so much for recipes where the clove needs to be very finely crushed.

Here’s Edward in action.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
