Weekly Fashion Hack: trouser belt too tight

There are simple tricks to make ill-fitting clothes or accessories fit nicely. I’m showing you these hacks in a multi-part series. Today we’re covering: how to stop your denim thinning.
Finding a pair of jeans that fit perfectly is like winning the jackpot in the fashion lottery. It's just a shame that once you finally get your hands on that magic pair, the first place they start thinning is the inner thighs. So what causes it? When you walk, the thighs rub against each other and roughen the fabric until it gets lighter. Activities such as cycling also speed up this process. To stop it getting to that point, and to avoid rips, find out in today's part of the series how you can strengthen the crotch of your favourite pair of jeans in just five minutes. The earlier you tackle it, the better.
This is what you need
How it works
Turn your jeans inside out and cut out two iron insert pieces. These should be slightly larger than the area on the jeans that’s thinned. Now place one after the other onto your jeans with the shiny side facing the problem area. Then attach the pieces using the iron. To prevent ripples in the interfacing, press instead of pushing. Then let the whole thing cool down for a while. That's it. The attached inserts immediately reinforce the chafed areas. And because they’re flexible and thin — unlike traditional fabric patches – you hardly feel them when you wear your jeans for short periods of time. It’s a win-win for you and your denim.
