Galaxus is bringing back Black Friday Week this year, with promotions running from 25 November to 2 December. Rather than restricting the bargain hunting to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we’ll again be hosting an entire week of deals in limited quantities and attractive offers on brand-name products.

In 2024, Black Friday falls on 29 November. Our Black Friday Week starts as early as the Monday before Black Friday – on 25 November. From then until Cyber Monday, you’ll find new deals in limited quantities every day. In total, you can expect around 1,000 deals again.

In addition, you’ll find attractive discounts across selected brands’ entire ranges. You’ll be able to benefit from these special offers all week – up to and including Cyber Monday.

Black Friday Week at Galaxus – here’s what you need to know

We know that people start gearing up for Black Friday much earlier than the day itself. Around the beginning of November, two magic words start popping up in the Galaxus search bar with increasing frequency: «black friday». We hear you. You want to know what amazing deals we can offer you. Will it be that stylish lamp that’s been languishing on your watch list for a while? Could it finally be that fully automatic coffee machine you’ve been wanting to sweeten your working-from-home setup? Or is it that robot vacuum cleaner you’ve been longing for to keep your floors clean? Come now, admit it, you’re really after that one Lego set you’ve been eyeing up for ages… To make this Black Friday something to look forward to, here’s a little list of questions we get asked most often. And the answers, of course.

How long will I have to wait for my delivery?

Deliveries may take a little longer right now and during Black Friday Week. Our logistics department is already reporting a high volume of orders, with the peak expected for next week and the week after. As a result, deliveries may be delayed and next-day delivery may not be possible. However, your estimated delivery date will be clearly displayed for each product.

And if you’re not in a hurry anyway, how about choosing our slow delivery option? This really relieves our colleagues in logistics as well as Swiss Post and Planzer, especially around Black Friday. So, if you choose that, a big thank you to you!

When is Black Friday?

Black Friday falls relatively late in 2024 – on 29 November, to be precise. Fun fact: Black Friday was invented by US retailers. The special holiday was meant to boost business after Thanksgiving Day. There are various theories surrounding the origin of the name «Black Friday». My personal favourite is the idea that the day used to be so lucrative that merchants would end up with black fingers from counting dollar bills. Of course, with almost all transactions being cashless nowadays, this doesn’t happen any more.

How big will the discounts be on Black Friday?

It all depends on the product. Since margins tend to be low for retailers in the electronics sector, the discounts they can feasibly offer are generally lower compared to other sectors, such as furniture or beauty. The better our buyers negotiate with manufacturers and suppliers, the sweeter the deals you get.

Why shop on Galaxus?

Galaxus shoppers should always have a good shopping experience – not just on Black Friday. To this end, our product development, logistics, customer service, purchasing and marketing teams are constantly working on improvements. One feature I particularly recommend is our price transparency indicator. You can see daily price fluctuations across the past twelve months for a large number of products on our site. This way, you can see whether a bargain is really a bargain. You can also check whether there’s any truth to the occasional accusation that our prices go up before Black Friday to artificially increase a discount. Just so we’re clear, Galaxus doesn’t get involved in those kinds of business practices.

In addition to the price, you should also know the quality of a product. That’s why Galaxus provides information on warranty claim and return rates, showing how often customers send a particular product back or how often warranty claims are made on it.

And last but not least, you can also help out logistics employees at Galaxus. If you don’t need your bargain the very next day, you can select the «Allow longer delivery times» option during checkout. This allows our logistics team to smooth out peak order periods. Not only that, but it lessens the workload in the warehouse and at our shipping partners.

Well, if those aren’t good reasons to shop on Galaxus, then I don’t know what would be.

Is Singles’ Day the same as Black Friday?

No, Singles’ Day was invented in China to boost the country’s retail sector. Black Friday, on the other hand, is an American concept (see above). In China, people shop until their smartphones are red-hot on Singles’ Day, or 11/11. That being said, consumer confidence probably wasn’t quite as high last year as in the past. That’s if the state media’s reports – only providing information on the number of packages sent (article in German) instead of concrete sales figures – are anything to go by.

Is Cyber Monday the same as Black Friday?

Okay, chances are you didn’t ask this question if you can distinguish between Monday and Friday. Cyber Monday is the last in a series of crazy shopping days. On 2 December, online shops (yes, Galaxus, too) offer one last round of special deals before Christmas. Cyber Monday was also invented by the Americans. To recap: the Monday following Thanksgiving (which is the fourth Thursday in November) was and is a response from online shops to Black Friday, which was originally launched by brick-and-mortar retailers.

Has the list of Black Friday Week deals been leaked?

No, no, and no again. This has only happened to us once. But it’s almost endearing that so many of you still remember the embarrassing event from four years ago.
