Best of beauty: my April favourites

At Galaxus, you’ll find over 80,000 beauty products. And counting. That’s quite a lot. Each month, I share my favourites from this pool of new launches and established classics.

Cream shower scrub by Dove

You know those no-good scrubs that feel like you’re being caressed by a marshmallow? A handful of colourful particles don’t magically turn a shower gel into a body scrub. I had given up. I’m not kidding – I wound up hand in hand with an ugly exfoliating glove that I used together with a tablespoon of baking soda. But you try keeping dry baking soda handy in the shower. So, despite my scepticism, back I went on the search for a ready-made scrub. I was after one that would give my skin flakes as hard a beating as my emergency baking soda solution. And I’ve found it:

The moisturising cream shower scrub by Dove contains pomegranate and shea butter, as well as nature-based exfoliating particles and jojoba wax beads. I start by applying the product to dry skin and then massage it in with wet hands. Consistency-wise, the paste reminds me of a clay mask – though it smells much fruitier and fresher. And my flaky skin? It – and the speckled remains of my self-tanner – have gone with the wind.

Anti-blackhead nose strips by Balea

The anti-blackhead strips from Balea are satisfying on more than one level: they allow me to remove blackheads in just 15 minutes, all while entertaining my inner popaholic. The white strips are primarily meant to be used on the nose, but they can be cut into pieces and used on other areas like the chin, forehead, and temples.

As good as the strips are, application is key to getting rid of the blackheads. Check out my tips here:

«Pastel Lemon» Gel Lacquer by Catrice

The season sets the fashion for me. Even my nail polish isn’t exempt. In fall and winter, I prefer to wear dark colours that are only distinguishable from a black on closer inspection; in spring, my choice falls entirely and predictably on pastel shades with a touch of neon. I’ve added the perfect yellow to my collection, namely «108 Pastel Lemon» from the «Iconails Gel Lacquers» range by Catrice. It provides ample coverage, a pop of colour, stays put and puts you in a good mood.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
