Artificial intelligence on the ski piste: Swiss start-up presents innovative ski goggles

The Swiss start-up Ostloong Innovations is launching smart ski goggles on the market. The "Sirius" model combines augmented reality and artificial intelligence. The company is currently presenting the goggles at the Consumer Electronics Show CES in Las Vegas.
Every year at the Consumer Electronics Show CES, new, innovative and sometimes a little crazy products are presented. This year, the Swiss start-up Ostloong Innovations, based in Meilen, is presenting ski goggles designed for the generation of skiers for whom smartphones and social networks are a must on the slopes.
Augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI)
According to a press release from Ostloong Innovations, the new "Sirius" ski goggles provide the wearer with extensive information about their surroundings and environment thanks to the built-in technology. They are connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth and have features such as GPS, integrated mobile data and an HD camera. According to the Swiss company, this is the first integrated augmented reality experience for skiing.

"We developed our ski goggles based on the idea that while the winter sports market is huge, it can still benefit greatly from the integration of new technologies to adapt to the generation of skiers for whom
smartphones and social networks are indispensable. smartphones and social networks are indispensable," explains Amber Gao, CEO of Ostloong Innovations.
In the media release, the company also writes that "Sirius" offers the possibility of displaying virtual information in the ski goggles based on analyses and algorithms, while at the same time ensuring safety by recognising danger zones and the skier's behaviour. The ski goggles should therefore offer a multidimensional and immersive experience that allows the wearer a new way of orientation, movement and communication in the great outdoors.
Do we really need augmented reality and artificial intelligence on the ski slopes? Perhaps common sense and a little consideration would be enough. And nature is already augmented enough for my taste in the mountains.
