3 clever ways to tie your coat belt
If you tie a simple knot on the belt of your coat, it will come loose by itself – and look a bit sloppy. Tie a double knot and it will be difficult to undo, plus the bow will be wonky. Try these three ways to tie your coat belt instead.
1. The adjustable knot
Wrap one side of the belt around your hand so that the end is facing up. Guide the end through the loop you’ve made.
Take the other end of the belt and slip it through the loose knot. Now tighten the belt to your preferred length. This knot remains flexible and can be loosened or tightened as you wish.
2. The semi bow
Start with a simple knot and fold the part of the belt that’s facing downwards into a loop. Pull it to the opposite side and place the upper part of the belt over it.
Grab the end of the top part and slip it through the gap behind the loop. Pull it tight and you’re done.

3. The Burberry knot
For this method, which is very popular for trench coats, you’ll be working on the back of your coat. Put the coat on backwards or hang it up on a coat hanger. Bring both sides of the belt to the back, cross them over each other and grab the end that’son the bottom. Pull it up over the top one and back down behind the cross.
Now slip the other end of the belt upwards and diagonally behind the cross. To tie the knot, slip the end of the belt through the noose created at the front centre as you pull it down. Finally, tighten both ends. Your coat will now look more fitted and you can wear it open without the belt getting in your way.
