The Nero di Gio was specifically created as a tribute to the founder of "Cielo e Terra," Giovanni Cielo. Giovanni Cielo purchased a small vineyard in front of the "Romeo and Juliet" castles as the cornerstone of what is now "Cielo e Terra." He crafted wines that were originally mainly blends from various regions of Italy. The Famiglia Cielo, which still owns a vineyard in both Northern and Southern Italy, wanted to revive this tradition with the Nero di Gio. Thus, it combines the richness of the South with the fruitiness of the North into a new, high-quality red blend. The Nero di Gio is a wine that Giovanni would have wished for.
