The Withings Body Comp offers a more comprehensive analysis of body composition. In addition to weight, body fat percentage, muscle mass and water percentage, it also measures bone mass and visceral fat. The Body Smart scale only measures body fat percentage, muscle mass and water percentage.
Hello, no I have not purchased a plan and the app has been working for over 9 months. You would only need an optional Withings+ plan if you want to use additional services such as "Health Improvement Score" etc.. But you don't necessarily need it. Further information can also be found on the Withings homepage. Best regards
The app is free and is "needed" for the statistics over time (as far as I know, the scale also works without the app). There is an optional premium plan in the app that offers you training tips and advanced analysis.
I can't judge the Smart as I don't own it. However, the Comp is relatively accurate (in my case 1.5% deviation from the Dexa scan). The results are definitely consistent so trends over several weeks are clearly visible with no unexplained jumps (I weigh myself in the morning before I have a drink). However, I would say that the scales are only worth the extra money if you are really following a consistent diet/weight loss programme and counting your calories accurately. Then you can prove the results of your adherence to or disregard of the diet relatively well with the scales. However, I would not recommend it for a KFA over 25%, as it is very inaccurate and inconsistent. Hope this helps :)
