The bio-plastic used for the bristles is based on castor oil and is a petroleum-free alternative to conventional nylon bristles. Despite the plant-based origin of the bristles, the toothbrush should not be disposed of in green waste, as the decomposition time of bio-plastic is significantly longer than that of organic waste approved for composting. Therefore, the head of the toothbrush must be detached and disposed of in regular household waste after about two months of use. The beech wood handle can then be disposed of separately in green waste.
