Floome measures blood alcohol concentration (BAC) and presents the results instantly on your smartphone. A corresponding app is available from the manufacturer for both iOS and Android. Before the first use of Floome, a few questions regarding gender, height, and weight must be answered to help the app better calculate BAC and the time needed for the body to metabolize alcohol. The country setting also establishes the legally permissible blood alcohol limit for operating vehicles. Floome operates without batteries; simply plug it into the headphone jack of your smartphone and blow into the rotatable mouthpiece. In addition to displaying the BAC value, a red screen indicates when the legal limit has been exceeded. The app then provides the recommended waiting time for the body to metabolize the alcohol and drop below the legal limit. A statistics feature offers an overview of the measured alcohol levels. The same sensor used in official police measuring devices is employed in Floome, providing an accuracy of 0.075 BAC.
