Ulrich Pleitgen, born in Hanover in 1946, studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover, and after completing his education he had engagements at Berlin's Schillertheater, the theaters in Basel, Frankfurt, Bochum, and the Staatstheater Stuttgart. Until 1989 he belonged to the ensemble of Hamburg's Thalia Theater. His stage career includes being awarded the "Berliner Kunstpreis" by the Akademie der Künste Berlin in 1972 as the best up-and-coming actor and in 1980 as "Best Actor of the Year" from the troupe of Claus Peymann in Bochum. On television, Ulrich Pleitgen can be seen in many series, including Tatort , Nicht von schlechten Eltern and Jenny & Co. He has also received awards in the field of film such as the "Golden Bear" Berlin for the film Stammheim Der Prozess (1986) and the "Bambi" in 1994.
