September 2017. Neuhaus, an investigator from Frankfurt, joins the newly founded Berlin "Special Counter-Terrorism Unit", which resides in a barracks on the grounds of the former Tempelhof airport. The federal elections are coming up and the danger situation in the capital has drastically increased. Neuhaus is an experienced investigator, but his colleagues in Berlin meet him with scepticism. Only the young German Turk Suna-Marie cooperates with him. Then a series of murders shakes the capital. The first victim: a young Jewish activist, the second a well-known Muslim lawyer, others follow. What connects the cases? Neuhaus, the soloist, sets out to find out. And in this city, where the past jumps at you everywhere and the present presses down on you, he fights alone. Almost alone.
