Revell Airbrush Basic Set with compressor
Revell Airbrush Basic Set with compressor
Without great expectations, this unit was ordered. Because the reviews here and elsewhere ranged from "super" to "sky sad". Given the price and as a complete layman should not spend too much money. No sooner said than done, if you follow the prices a bit, you can have the good piece much cheaper, at Revell the successor is already in the pipeline. I bought it to paint larger areas evenly and quickly. The start-up is simple, you can switch on and off and manipulate the intensity of the air pressure on the device, fine adjustments are then made on the nozzle. Unlike more professional compressors, the device does not have an air tank, so it has to run constantly. The hose was annoying from the start, as it is quite stiff and can hardly be untangled properly. It should be clear who has 0 idea of airbrush, which should not think that he immediately becomes an artist. There it probably needs years and a multiple of investments, already a reasonable airbrush gun can cost hundreds of francs. Back to the Revell Basic Set: For our requirements completely sufficient, already the first parts were relatively good - also again for our requirements. We used only water-soluble Revell paints, which makes cleaning easier. The paint must be relatively thin, otherwise the gun clogs very quickly. The nozzle can be completely disassembled for cleaning, but beware, reassembly is then correspondingly fiddly. The advantage of this "system": relatively small, light and can be easily stored and retrieved for occasional work. A spray booth was made from a cardboard box, to catch the paint dust we use an old industrial vacuum cleaner. However, it is advantageous to wear an appropriate protective mask in addition. In short: The purchase met expectations, who wants to work professionally with it, is definitely well advised to spend more money.

This set needs training time. At first I wanted to sell it again because the nozzle clogged immediately. I use Revell synthetic resin paints.
Important:
1.) The paint has to be thinned quite a bit. Goes with Revell Color Mix (is part of the set).
2) When using synthetic resin, the gun must be taken apart and cleaned after each application of paint. For this you have to read the instruction manual. I clean the parts with light petrol. The gun looks like new every time
The very bulky black hose is annoying.
Tip: Buy a few additional pipettes.

Nothing to complain about so far. You just have to do some research beforehand and clean the equipment properly.
China quality at its best. Nozzle suffers from clogging. Threw away the junk after not even one finished model. @ Galaxus, take the scrap from the range.

If you use it for what it's meant (models) work perfectly. On the other hand you you expect it to perform to make some crazy airbrush art on a truck you are clearly going to be disappointed!
Not great but not necessarily bad. If you do not want to airbrush anything big, then it goes grad so
