Pampas grass can grow quickly and become very large, especially when planted in rich soil. It is advisable to prune the pampas grass in February or March. Cut the plant back to 30 cm above the ground. This robust plant is also evergreen in winter. Only in very harsh winters can the plant freeze above ground. In this case, it almost always sprouts again in spring. The plants can grow considerably, and the long, narrow, and particularly decorative leaves can reach a height of 3 meters.
