Prospective teachers often find a theory-based discussion of teaching unprofitable because many didactic categories are unwieldy and do not seem to fit with their own (usually few) teaching experiences. This lack of connectivity is overcome with the web-based exercises for lesson analysis presented in this volume. Short video scenes with superimposed verbatim transcripts and, if necessary, worksheets or slides encourage theory-based analysis: In each case, a didactic aspect (e.g. teaching objective, lesson introduction, work assignment, group work, discussion or evaluation) is to be related to a videotaped lesson excerpt. On the one hand, this deepens the understanding of the respective aspect. On the other hand, a close look at the lesson makes it clear that didactic.
