Product details
For the special edition of his recently published book of drawings, Peter Handke has created a suite of 20 mushroom prints for us, which we would like to present to you as a cycle in book form before the sheets, which all have a unique character, are dispersed to Handke collectors all over the world. Handke's mushroom prints have as their starting point small mushrooms that he finds on his walks in the forest and presses in his notebooks. In the process, strangely fantastic figures are created according to nature's random principle, in which the dried remains of the sponges are left behind in bubbles of yellowish-brown liquid, which result from the moisture of the mushrooms through the process of pressing, like cell nuclei in a placenta. The small monochrome leaves, iridescent in all shades from brown to black, are of high graphic appeal. In their lightness and delicacy, they are reminiscent of the black and white watercolours of Victor Hugo or the graphic sheets of the composer John Cage. With short text quotations from Peter Handke's book Versuch über den Pilznarren.
