With individual psychology, Alfred Adler established the second of the three major schools of depth psychology at the beginning of the 20th century. Like Sigmund Freud before him and later C. G. Jung, Adler focuses on the driving forces of the unconscious. For him, every person is always, in the strictest sense, a social "individual," an indivisible being in the unity of body and soul, whose feelings and aspirations are shaped by a "sense of community" deeply rooted in their personality. This volume gathers lectures by Adler from around 1920 and offers a well-founded insight into the theory and practice of his teachings.
