Product details
Cabbage noodles, kimchi, banana bread, atayef, vegetable paella, nasi lemak, and snowballs: The dishes prepared collectively by cooking groups in Vienna's municipal housing are as diverse as the residents living there. In the unique Vienna municipal housing, a quarter of the city's population resides, which amounts to about 500,000 people. It is a "Viennese melange" of different origins, biographies, and cultural traditions. This housing is a legacy of "Red Vienna" and a flagship of its hundred-year history of social housing policy. The diversity is reflected in the cooking pot of the cooking groups, initiated by wohnpartner, the neighborhood service of the city of Vienna. Beyond cooking, the aim is also to look beyond one's own plate, to learn from and with each other in lived neighborhood relationships, and to gain more insight into individual life situations. Cooking and eating together creates connections, or as one resident puts it: Cooking opens the heart and the mind.
