All over the world, people celebrate festivals. During these celebrations, they uphold their traditions. These are customs that are shared with others on certain days of the year. In Germany, major family celebrations like Christmas and Easter are particularly popular. No wonder! You can sleep in, enjoy delicious food, and receive gifts. But what exactly do we celebrate at Christmas? Why do we set up an Advent wreath with four candles? And why do we dye eggs for Easter? Holidays commemorate specific events or significant individuals. In Germany, most festivals have a Christian origin. However, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, and Buddhists in Germany also celebrate their own festivals. Through these shared celebrations, strangers often become friends. With this book, we aim to contribute to that.
