Gjogsul

In his book, Frank Pelny presents the NVA's close combat training based on the Korean gjogsul. Self-defence, duel, hand-to-hand combat, martial arts, police enforcement service - no matter what you call it, one goal remains common to all: to be able to successfully fend off attacks on life and health. With this book, the author first introduces the gjogsul to the general public. This close combat system, which originated in North Korea, is presented here in the form in which it was trained by paratroopers, reconnaissance officers and specialists of the National People's Army (NVA) of the former German Democratic Republic (GDR). At the same time, the author incorporated his many years of martial arts experience and instructor practice. This new primer for all members of the security trade, army and police, but also for every citizen to learn effective self-defence, offers theory and practice in unarmed combat, knife fighting, defence against threats with a pistol, rifle fighting and knowledge of special techniques. An extra chapter has been devoted to training methodology.
