Product details

Renewable energy is an alternative energy source that can be useful in balancing the difference between energy supply and demand. Solar energy is an effective renewable energy source for a region like Rajasthan, which is blessed with high solar radiation. Due to their simplicity, flat collectors are becoming increasingly popular. Solar air heaters are flat collectors that convert solar energy into thermal energy to heat the air. The use of thermal energy storage is gaining importance in solar-based applications, as it can enhance the performance of solar collectors. The energy stored in the form of heat and cold can be utilized later. Solar energy can be collected through the absorption of solar radiation, which is why an absorber plate is used in the flat collector. Solar air heaters are flat collectors that release the collected heat to the air. Solar air heaters are used for space heating and for drying plants, seeds, etc. The aim of the work was to analyze the performance of solar air heating systems with and without thermal energy storage. An improvement in performance was observed when a thermal energy storage medium was used.
