Lio and Tara are drawn into a game app and find themselves in a robot world with lots of strange robotic creatures. The children embark on an adventurous journey through the robot world where their little friend, Spencer the lizard, meets his first great love. This book was developed as part of the 'Litkey' project at Ruhr University Bochum. 'Litkey' stands for 'Written language as the key to social participation'. In this project, which is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, we want to specifically support children of pre-school and primary school age in acquiring grammatical knowledge. The grammatical focus of this book is on the use of relative clauses and the position of the verb in the subordinate clause. An additional comparison of the verb position can be made by reading out a parallel version with main clauses instead of relative clauses. (Do you see the robot bumblebee that flies hummelig? - The robot bumblebee flies bumblingly). You can read the book aloud in shorter sections and talk about the pictures and characters for longer. You can offer only the relative clauses or only the main clauses, or you can contrast both types of sentence by offering the sentences in the other structure again when discussing the pictures. You can try out and practise the corresponding type of sentence with the children on a colourful page. Improve children's utterances that are not yet completely correct in conversation by repeating the child's words or sentences correctly and possibly formulating them.
