Product details
Shinjuku, a district in Tokyo: Here, two people meet – Yama, a failed television writer in his mid-twenties, and Yume, a taciturn waitress. Both are outsiders who have nearly given up hope of finding their place in life. Yume works in a bar called Karinka, which offers a home to quirky individuals as well as stray cats. When Yama first enters this place, he is completely captivated by the people, the atmosphere, and the special role that the four-legged friends play in Karinka. He develops a bond with Yume, with whom he soon begins to care for the street cats. Their friendship seems to blossom into something more, but then Yume's past catches up with her...
"The Cats of Shinjuku" tells the story of two people wrestling with themselves and trying to save each other: a bittersweet novel that pays attention to the little things, told with sensitivity and warmth.
