Luigi Snozzi - Casa Kalman

Casa Kalman in Brione (Ticino) is considered a milestone in Swiss architecture of the 1970s. Its architect, Luigi Snozzi (1932-2020) from Ticino, considered it his most important residential building project. For the first time, a separate publication is dedicated to this internationally renowned building. The book deals with the special topographical context of the holiday home and, using partly unpublished archive material, provides insight into its creation and its afterlife in the media. In an interview, the current owner and daughter of the client talks about life in the architectural icon. The new swissmonographies publication series is devoted to selected examples of Swiss architecture from the last century. Particular attention is paid to the architectural context: the topographical, urban planning and historical framework conditions, the role of the client and the appropriation of a building by its users.
