Product details
This version of the VDSL router VMG1312 is preconfigured as a bridge. In bridge mode, another device (typically a firewall) is used to establish the PPPoE authentication. The public IP address is forwarded directly to the router or firewall. All data packets are transported from one network interface to another without intelligent routing. The VDSL router VMG1312 is offered as items 3802 and 3803 in a version without Wi-Fi. For security reasons, the Wi-Fi function is often not desired when used as a bridge in front of a firewall with the VDSL router. Wi-Fi cannot be reactivated via the Wi-Fi button on the housing or through the configuration settings. These versions are clearly marked on the underside of the router and on the packaging. In addition to being used for internet access via VDSL2, the router is also backward compatible with ADSL and ADSL2+. Extensive interoperability testing has ensured that the Zyxel VMG1312 is compatible with VDSL, ADSL, and vectoring on the Swisscom network. Vectoring eliminates disruptive noise from other copper lines, achieving up to double the bandwidth over copper. The Zyxel VMG1312 package already includes a VDSL filter and all necessary connection cables. The router is preconfigured for use with local providers, allowing for smooth operation. An installation manual in German, French, Italian, and English is also included in the package.
