Do not give the monitor more! Fits perfectly!

Previously used a LG 32UL950-W (4K, 32") (https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/lg-32ul950-waeu-32-3840-x-2160-pixels-monitor-10336967?supplier=406802) and wanted to switch to "ultra-wide" for some time. The LG 38WN95C-W is more suitable for office work due to its wider width. Several windows can be placed side by side and the font remains pleasantly large. The 120Hz refresh rate is very smooth and pleasing to the eye. In return, the graphics card has to work harder and is often audible. My ambitious amateur requirements for picture brightness, brightness distribution and colors are met to my complete satisfaction. Mine doesn't have any pixel errors.
Gaming is fun as long as the action takes place horizontally. The built-in speakers don't sound too bad for my taste.
I had trouble connecting my 3-year-old HP Elitebook 850 G5 business notebook (with 4K display): the included Thunderbolt cable didn't work. Neither did the other one, with which the notebook was connected to the old LG 32UL950-W (also LG original Thunderbolt cable). Another Thunderbolt cable I still had eventually worked, to my relief.
Conclusion: Do not give the monitor more! Fits perfectly!

Update 22.06.2021: I am still thrilled. The monitor proves its services in perfect manner, six days a week, while working and playing (PUBG). Where - while we're on the subject of FPS - I play PUBG in window mode, because in fullscreen the image is just too big and until you have seen the enemy behind the bushes on the hill in the upper right...
Even after almost a year, the monitor gets the full score and my unreserved recommendation.

Ingenious monitor for gaming and working

If you're looking for a monitor for working and gaming, you've come to the right place. The IPS panel has a very good color fidelity for e.g. image editing and can also be used extremely well for gaming with an appropriate PC.

    Pro

    • Bright and color accurate display (100% sRGB and 89% Adobe RGB)
    • 144Hz respectively 120Hz with 10Bit color depth
    • Thunderbolt 3
    • NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync supported

    Contra

    • Built-in speaker is okay, but would have expected more for the price
    • Everything made of plastic except for the bottom part of the stand (arch)
    • Relatively expensive

    Meets expectations

The only negative point is that this device was delivered with a German Schuko plug. This is not so mentioned in the product description. This is probably more due to digitec and its input/output control. Unfortunately, this is not the first time.

    Pro

    • Excellent picture
    • Some connection options
    • Wall mounting possible
    • Price quite ok

    Contra

    • Power supply with German Schuko plug

Very good, pay attention to USB ports

I think my biggest complain about this monitor is the fact that USB ports at the back I was hoping to put to use are only active when the screen is connected to source through thunderbolt... that's a bummer... second thing is that the whole thing is shacking lot when on provided stand. Besides those 2 complains its a very good product.

After an early defect, perfect on the second try!

The LG 38WN95C-W is one of the top models among ultrawide monitors, not to say the top model. If you want this monitor, you need one thing in particular at the beginning: A lot of patience. Nationally as well as internationally, you can always find reports of long waiting times in the various shops as well as forums. So I also waited a little more than a month at Digitec. Since I knew about the delivery problems, that was no problem.

The joy was all the greater when it finally arrived. I was really thrilled with the monitor. Although it doesn't have a Retina display like my MacBook Air M1 2020, the sharpness is ideal for the size and at a reasonable viewing distance. The only thing that disappointed me were the integrated speakers, as they sound nasal. So these speakers are not usable for me and I will get external ones.

    Update 3/25:
My initial rating of only three stars was based on the fact that the monitor was defective after a mere three days and had to be sent in. LG Dietikon shone with an excellent repair service and I got the monitor back after about two weeks. The mainboard was replaced and the latest firmware was installed. The monitor now works perfectly and I am very satisfied.

    Pro

    • Design
    • Aluminium stand
    • Tiltable (in contrast to the cheaper 38WK95C-W)
    • Automatic brightness adjustment thanks to sensor (missing in the cheaper 38WK95C-W)
    • For gamers: nVidia G-Sync, AMD Freesync, Adaptive Sync
    • Sharpness (not Retina, but still ideal)
    • Color reproduction
    • Curved design makes working on such a wide monitor comfortable

    Contra

    • Integrated speakers sound nasal
    • Delivery bottlenecks (at least one month waiting time)
