Hello Very good sound.very good card.
driver for win 8 is very old and is not so good, so I have taken another
other is better and gets everything out what you need for good sound.

for installation delete old driver, restart pc and install this one tip top.
If all the sound pci slots are covered by the graphics card, you can use a pci ex2 slot for the graphics card.
Very satisfied
The card is expensive compared to the Creative models, but it sounds great. Most of the time I only have one pair of (quite good) headphones connected, and the card is perfectly adequate for that. No background noise, good highs and rich bass. The Asus driver also makes a good impression, with many setting options. No comparison to the Realtek onboard junk.
The only thing that doesn't work is the AC'97 front panel that I connected. But that's probably because the panel is defective. Or because I can't find the "Return R" and "Return L" pins on the card and thus can't connect 2 pins...
@ Digitec: Please indicate that a power adapter from 3.5" to 5.25" is already included in the package! Then I could have saved the 10.- for the extra adapter.
After a year, the sound card broke, even though it performed well.

Much better than the onboard sound on my Sabertooth P87. Both the analogue 5.1 and virtual 7.1 are very good. Turns my stereo headphones into 7.1 headphones. As a bonus, the card also has a header for front panel audio. Watch out: The card needs its own power connector, but an adapter is included.
As with all Asus software, the UI of the included software takes some getting used to.

Funktioniert einwandfrei mit Linux (getestet mit Kernel 4.3, via SPDIF mit einem Denon AVR X1100W verbunden) ohne Installation zusätzlicher Treiber. In lshw wird die Karte folgendermassen erkannt:

In my opinion, this sound card delivers a very good sound and has a good P/L ratio,
The driver is a bit fiddly at first and looks like it did 5 years ago but offers interesting options.
The only point is that you always have to open the driver software to switch between front-panel headphones and rear-panel output.
Would buy again mainly because of virtual surround for headphones.
