The problem could have several causes. Here are some possible reasons and solutions: 1. low output level of the CD player The Renkforce CD 1000 may have a very low output level, which means that the amplifier has to be turned up very high. Solution: If the CD player has a volume control or a level selector switch, check that it is set to the highest level. 2. defective or incorrect cinch cable If the cable is damaged or of poor quality, the signal may be lost. Solution: Try a different cinch cable. 3. faulty or incompatible signal levels between CD player and amplifier The CD inputs should be designed for line level signals (approx. 2V RMS). If the CD player has a lower output level, the volume may be too low. Solution: Test the CD player on a different amplifier or connect a different source device to the CD input of the Yamaha A-S201 to see if the problem persists. 4) CD player only outputs signal on one channel or with phase problems If the signal is only output on one channel or with phase cancellation, it may sound very quiet. Solution: Test the headphone output of the CD player with another device to see if the signal sounds normal. 5. faulty CD player or amplifier input If the CD player on another amplifier is also quiet, it could be faulty. If another device sounds normal on the CD input of the Yamaha amplifier, it is probably the CD player. Solution: Test the device on another amplifier or test another device on the CD input of the Yamaha. If none of these points help, the CD player or the amplifier may be faulty.

The Yamaha A-S201 amplifier is suitable for playing backing music from a computer as it has various inputs, including a line input that allows you to receive an audio signal from a computer. You can simply connect the amplifier to your computer using an RCA cable or other suitable audio cable.

The Yamaha floor stand speakers would be a good match for this amp, Yamaha knows sound and they should be harmonizing best with what their amps can deliver. The speakers maxium watts rating is 240 so they also are okay for listeiing at a higher volume. The A-S201 does not have MusicCast. A variant with MusicCast would be the RX-V4A Yamaha RX-V4A (5.2 channel), for example. You can also find some cheaper models on the Yamaha info page about MusicCast, but they are no longer in production, so maybe you can still find a suitable offer for one or the other https://ch.yamaha.com/de/products/contents/audio_visual/musiccast/index.html

As I read it in the description of the Pioneer Powered Subwoofer, it needs a line-in signal and amplifies itself. The Yamaha A-S201 has two REC sockets next to the PB on the rear of Line 2. For me, this means that the signal for the active subwoofer can be taken from here. - I do not take any responsibility for my statement.

I have an A-S201 in configuration as a short distance monitoring amplifier in use and am very satisfied so far. Of course, my Genelec don't need 140W per channel. But I can't imagine any application where permanent 2x140W is needed, even with a parallel connection of loudspeakers. Connecting speakers, regardless of their impedance, is always possible. However, it depends on the power profile of the speakers. However, according to the construction of the amplifier and the experience with other Yamaha amplifiers, it should be possible for a residential application without grilling the power amplifier. There is, after all, a volume potentiometer. Many greetings and good luck with the experimentation
