yes, no problem. i have exactly this setup.
This would be a refurbished model, if a monitor is sold as new, it must not have a warranty repair behind it. Ultra Sharp is more of a premium designation with better equipment and more functions, but some are also sharp without the addition. When the lid is closed or opened on the notebook, the full image is transmitted in full resolution via the external output, but I wouldn't take the monitor if the best resolution is to be used externally, a model with 3840 x 2160 pixels would be much better. The resolution of the notebook's built-in screen is irrelevant. However, it is advantageous for the notebook to have a DisplayPort or USB-C output, because some can only display 4K at 30 Hz via the HDMI output and this is jerky when scrolling up and down. This one, for example, would be suitable for more resolution: Dell UltraSharp U4323QE, 109.2 cm (43"), 3840 x 2160 Pixels, 4K Ultra HD, LCD, 8 ms, Argento (3840 x 2160 Pixels, 43")
