The Lip Booster from Beneva Black tested

Full lips without injections - this lip booster is supposed to make it possible. Will the result be as good as the stunning before and after picture from the advert?

"You have to do this Nati!", my colleague Stephanie Tresch shouts enthusiastically, holding a visibly artificial before-and-after picture from a Facebook advert under my nose. It shows lips. Normal on the left, noticeably full on the right. I'm supposed to achieve this effect in just five minutes with the Lip Booster from Beneva Black?

I'm actually quite happy with my lips. They're not photogenic (see close-ups to follow), but they're still okay. However, I wouldn't mind a little more fullness. So I test the supposed miracle weapon in front of the camera.

Lip gloss

The volume gloss smells pleasantly of vanilla and feels cool on the lips. Immediately after application, I feel a slight tingling sensation, which immediately subsides and turns into a warming burning sensation after about a minute. Must be the chilli extract. This stimulates the blood circulation. This opens the pores and the moisturisers contained in the product, such as argan and almond oil, penetrate the skin of the lips better. This reaction also makes my mouth redder. After five minutes, my lips definitely look fuller but also swollen. I also realise that I should have been much more careful when applying it: If you apply the plumper too close or even directly over your lip line, the result looks blotchy because the redness partially spreads to the skin around your mouth.

Back in the editorial team, about an hour after I applied the booster for the first time, the conclusion of my colleagues is predominantly negative: Fuller? Yes! More beautiful? No! As expected, the before-and-after effect can't be compared with the one in the advertising photo. After an hour and a half, nothing is visible at all. Beneva Black, however, speaks of an effect that lasts up to four hours. Stephanie Tresch and Carolin Teufelberger also took the opportunity to test the plumper. Funnily enough, only one thing happens with both of them: the lip red intensifies for about an hour. There is no sign of more volume for either of them.

Tip: I recommend applying this gloss before applying make-up. Once you've worked in your foundation with a sponge or brush, you can use what's left on your tool to lightly cover your lips. This will take away any redness. Then be sure to use a lip liner to create a new contour. Then fill in with a lipstick.

Also tested on the hand: The skin reddens after just under 45 minutes. Because it is thicker on the body than on the lips, it takes longer for a reaction to occur.

Conclusion

The product leans too far out of the window with the before and after picture for my taste. If you're lucky, the product really does give you more volume, as it did for me. But if you're unlucky, it will only make your lips redder. Personally, I don't like the puffy "fresh from the beauty doc" look. I also think the product is overpriced. Lip boosters that achieve similar effects are available for less money. For example, the "Lip Injection Extreme" from Too Faced (unfortunately not currently available in our range). Or you can simply look for a DIY recipe online. However, if you want to give the booster a chance, you will definitely need to apply some make-up after use to conceal the redness.

Almost as hot as the chilli in the gloss is my author profile 😜 Just click on the black "Follow author" button next to it and don't miss any more of my self-experiments.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
