Testing Fashion Hacks – how to roll up your blazer sleeves without them slipping down again

Want to roll up the sleeves of your blazer without them constantly sliding down or showing the lining? This hack supposedly makes it work.
Rolled up sleeves give blazers a casual look. Especially with the trendy oversized designs, this styling technique can also prevent you from sinking into sleeves that are too long. What is usually a simple movement, unfortunately isn’t so easy to perform on a blazer. If you just push the fabric behind your elbow, it will slide down again the next time you move. If you carefully roll it up, the inner lining is revealed which usually isn’t very chic. According to a viral fashion hack, hair bands are the solution to the dilemma. I gave it a whirl.
What do you need?
Two hair bands that are quite large in diameter or very elastic. They should fit comfortably around your upper forearm or lower upper arm and not restrain your blood circulation.
I’ve been using these:

How do you do it?
Pull the hair band over your blazer and place it about halfway down your forearm. Now pull the sleeves, including the hair band, up to the desired position and fold the fabric from the top over the band to cover it.

Did it work?
Yes! With a few simple steps, you can create stylish rolled sleeves that won’t slip down. However, if the hair band doesn’t sit loosely enough, the whole thing becomes uncomfortable to wear in the long run. Therefore make sure you use the right hair bands. The hack doesn’t work on all blazers though. Two styles I have in my wardrobe are made of very thick, heavy material and the fabric doesn’t drape nicely. What’s also a bit of a pain: if you want to take off the blazer, you first have to remove the hair bands – and then reattach them. Still, it only takes a few seconds, so it’s not too bad.

My verdict
I give this hack four out of five stars. It’s effective and super easy. Despite the drawbacks, it’s the best technique I know so far for rolling up the sleeves of a blazer.
