Sunscreen test: Natural cosmetics are among the losers

Stiftung Warentest has tested 20 sunscreens. Four scored poorly. Natural cosmetics were particularly disappointing.
Of 20 sunscreens tested, 16 provide reliable protection. This is the quality verdict of Stiftung Warentest. The consumer organization examined various creams, lotions and sprays with sun protection factor 30, 50 or 50+. The tests were carried out to determine
- whether the promised sun protection factor (UVB protection) and UVA protection are met (weighting 50%)
- whether ingredients can be detected that the EU's Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) classifies as critical. They evaluate ingredients more strictly compared to the EU Cosmetics Regulation (weighting 20%)
- whether tamper-evidence and disposal and recycling instructions can be found on the packaging. In addition, the filling level and quantity were checked (weighting 15%)
- various declarations on the product (weighting 15%)
How exactly was tested, you can read here.
I have summarized the results for you in an overview.

Müller Lavozon Sun Spray SPF 50
Eucerin Allergy Protect Sun Gel-Cream LSF 50+ [[productlist:9255840]]
The Müller Lavozon and Eucerin products contained critical substances. Eucerin's product contains homosalate, a UV filter suspected of influencing our hormone system. Müller's product, on the other hand, contains high levels of benzophenone. According to Stiftung Warentest, this substance enters the sunscreen either as an impurity or as a by-product of the UV filter octocrylene. It is suspected of promoting the development of cancer.
"Poor"
All products listed here fell short of the specified UVB protection in the test. Among them are three of the four natural cosmetics-certified products.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
