Quad Lock Bike Mount – big things come in small packages

It’s often the little things in life that make it enjoyable. Inconspicuous helpers – like this bicycle smartphone holder from Quad Lock.
Since 2011, the Australian brand Quad Lock has been offering smart solutions for an active outdoor lifestyle. And here, too, smartphones are often involved. Whether you like it or not, we always have our cell phones handy, whether it’s for a selfie, a quick video, or to make sure we don’t miss the next turn in Google Maps. (And sometimes even to make phone calls!) But where to put your phone when both hands are on the handlebars or steering wheel?
Quad Lock: one system, many applications
In my case, I put my phone on my bicycle handlebars. That’s where Quad Lock comes in. I usually record my gravel bike tours via Garmin’s cycling computer. Recently, however, I tested a product controlled via the corresponding app, for which I needed an additional phone holder at short notice.
Besides, smartphones with navigation platforms such as Komoot are increasingly replacing the classic bike computer for many cyclists.

Originally developed for the iPhone, your phone can be attached not only to the bicycle handlebars with various versions of the holder system, but also to a motorcycle, car, on your upper arm while jogging or on your belt while hiking.
Quad Lock Bike Mount and more
Quad Lock offers the appropriate case for various iPhone models. I’m an Android user, so I need the universal adapter in addition to the actual mount. It features a secure locking mechanism compatible with all of Quad Lock’s original twist-and-lock mounts and attaches directly to phones, cases and most flat metal or plastic surfaces. Included are two rubber bands and a set of cable ties for permanent mounting. The bike mount can be installed on the stem or handlebars (⌀25-40mm).

Verdict
The devil’s in the detail. I love it when a manufacturer has thoroughly thought through its products. With Quad Lock’s Bike Mount, this is the case. One system, five applications, as shown in the graphic above. And the smartphone? It remains solidly attached to the bike, no matter how much the gravel or forest road jolts me around. Once clicked into the holder, nothing moves.
With mounts from other manufacturers, I’ve had my equipment, such as the Varia front light from Garmin, fly off while cycling. Aside from a scratch, the light fortunately remained unharmed. I doubt whether the much more expensive smartphone would have survived such a flight unscathed. Thanks to the Quad Lock’s Bike Mount, I no longer have to worry about this. And that’s certainly a cause for celebration.
