Men’s alternatives to shorts: these 7 long trousers will keep you cool in summer

Shorter doesn’t necessarily equal breezier. Here’s a selection of summer-ready long pants from our men’s range.
1. Linen
In both men’s and women’s fashion, linen pants have become an indispensable summer item. The lightweight, absorbent natural fibre feels cool and dry against the skin and exudes a laid-back, summery vibe. This model is 100 per cent linen and especially airy thanks to its loose fit.
2. Linen mix
You don’t always have to go for pure linen. Mixed fabrics also benefit from the cooling effect of the flax fibre. However, make sure the other materials in the mix are mainly natural fibres. This cotton and linen model, for example, is beautifully soft and breathable. The muted light green is a great alternative to beige. The neutral tone subtly adds a touch of colour that’s easy to combine.
3. Chinos
Chinos are another classic that won’t make you sweat. Their characteristic lightweight cotton twill fabric and loose cut are comfortable, even when temperatures are soaring. Chinos, such as this dark grey model, are also highly versatile. This means you can combine them to create a casual or more formal look. This can really come in handy if you have to stick to a dress code at work, for example.
4. Cargo pants
Cargo pants are super practical, totally trendy right now and great for hot days thanks to their loose cut. Just make sure the fabric is breathable and on the thin side. These light-coloured pants, for example, are made of 100 per cent cotton.
5. Pleats
Lightweight pleated pants are a dressier option for the summer. They usually have a wide cut, which means you can move freely and enjoy the breeze. These ankle-length pants, for example, are a great item for a smart-casual look.
6. Track pants
If you’re more into streetwear, nylon track pants might be for you. The fabric is light and fast-drying. And like this model, most track pants have a stylish, comfy oversized fit.
7. Smart track pants
