Riding off the calories - no device does this better than the air bike. You can find out which versions were crowned test winners in the Cardiowelt ranking here.

Air bikes are all the rage. Just in time for the noisy fat burners to increasingly conquer studios and home gyms, Cardiowelt has now published its five favourites. You can also find three models from the Air Bike Test 04/23 in our shop:

The Air Bike Classic from Assault achieved 1st place. It impresses with its robust design, which also makes intensive intervals possible without swaying on the device.

It also has an adjustable seat and a modern training computer with LCD screen. This promises not only simple operation, but also a good overview of the completed sports unit and your training progress. Only the background noise can be perceived as annoying.

Place 2 goes to the high-priced Schwinn AD8 Airdyne Bike. Here, too, you ride with a high level of comfort and noise.

According to Cardiowelt, Schwinn was the first manufacturer to bring the Air Bike onto the market as a further development of the ergometer - even if Assault is now better known. Editor Michael Restin tells you how the two devices differ from one another.

Place 3 is our shop novelty from Sportplus. The reasonable value for money of this affordable air bike means that you have to make a few sacrifices in terms of equipment and stability compared to the Assault and Schwinn.

However, it should be a solid entry-level machine for beginners that is also equipped with a training computer. Quick to set up, it burns calories just as quickly.

The Strike Bike from Capital Sports and an Asviva machine took 4th and 5th place respectively.

All in One

If the air bike trend has passed you by so far: visually, it is a mixture of fan and antique penny-farthing, which is more reminiscent of an invention by Daniel Gyro Gearloose than a sports product. In reality, however, it is a very effective piece of fitness equipment.

It combines the classic cross trainer and the well-known indoor cycle. The requirements of both types of training are combined so that you have to pull, push and pedal at the same time. Added to this are the highly manoeuvrable machine handles, which require not only arm and leg movements but also a stable core. This requires tension. And allows you to get an intensive full-body workout and fat burner workout.

An air bike is therefore both a build-up and endurance machine and can fulfil various training needs: whether for warm-up or cool-down, as intensive conditioning, cardio or muscle training.
