Hot days call for comfortable, uncomplicated clothes – the kind that make you look put together in seconds without requiring much thought. Here’s some inspo.
On hot days, a comfortable slip-in-or-out-of dress is a must-have for me. I look for ones that are sleeveless and airy – not constricting in the summer heat, but still snug against my skin. The perfect dress is simple yet chic. And versatile! I want to be able to dress it down for the beach with flip-flops, or dress it up for a night out with some statement jewellery. And, importantly, it’s got to be a midi or maxi so I don’t have to worry about flashing anyone when bending over and can sit down without getting stuck to the chair.
Five dresses that meet the criteria
1. Satin
No matter the year – 2014 or 2024 – you can’t go wrong with a midi satin slip dress. The straight neckline and gathered side seam make this dress particularly stylish. What’s also super practical are the adjustable spaghetti straps.
2. Ribbed
This minimalist maxi dress is a flattering shade of off-white and impresses with clever details. The twisted back is an unexpected eye-catcher, while the coarsely ribbed fabric makes for an interesting texture.
