More than 20 years ago, a couple of bike messengers and skaters got together in a basement room in Boulder, Colorado, organized an old sewing machine, truck tarpaulins and tear-resistant nylon, and got a few discarded car seat belts from the junkyard. The reason? There were no messenger bags on the market that met their demands for indestructibility, functionality, good fit and stylish look. So, without further ado, they created their own bags, which didn't go unnoticed in the scene for long. The demand increased and Chrome Industries saw the light of day.
Today, the messenger bag created back then is still one of the icons in the collection of the cult label and this practically unchanged. Minimalist, functional, robust bags and backpacks with great attention to detail and visual demands for people who are daily on the move in the city, whether by bike, skateboard, or any other means of transportation. That's what the brand is all about. Chrome was created for people who need a perfectly fitting, reliable partner that can do everything, put away a lot and can be put on and taken off quickly. This idea gave rise to the brand's distinctive and unique selling point: the "Metal Buckle", a car seat belt buckle with the striking black and red Griffin logo. The mythical griffin, a cross between a lion and an eagle, is a symbol of strength and vigilance. Qualities that are not unimportant on city streets.
Chrome has continued its success story away from the mainstream in the scene of urban bikers, surfers and skaters - even beyond the USA. Urban culture is Chrome's playground and indicative of the brand character.
